The licence has been designed to enable you to:

1. Build a successful and sustainable business coaching practice using Mindstream’s tried and tested models and methodologies.
2. Significantly reduce your “learning curve” which can be expensive and time consuming.
3. Develop the necessary confidence and competency required to undertake credible business coaching in an Irish or International context.

What do you receive?

The licence allows you to leverage Mindstream’s experience, know-how and brand in order to create your own business. You will be shown how to build and structure your business successfully in the shortest possible time, by leveraging your own strengths and capabilities. The package includes a comprehensive training programme designed to show you how to provide powerful, integrated coaching programmes to businesses of all sizes in order to create growth at personal, professional and organisational levels. You will learn how to work with the business leaders and senior teams in a highly strategic way to bring about clarity, focus and alignment throughout the business. Aside from the initial concentrated training schedule you will be assigned your own Coaching Mentor and your own Business Mentor who will be available to you for ongoing training and support.

How does it work?

• Details of costs will be provided to you at your first meeting and these can vary depending on factors such as your current experience and geographical location. You will pay an initial licence fee to begin, and after six months you then begin to pay ongoing licence fees which are a percentage of your revenue. Apart from the initial fee you need to show how you will support yourself financially for the first year as your income builds. Like any other business cash flow management is vital.
• From the start you begin a period of intense training which is broken down into workshops of two and three days duration, held several weeks apart. These are designed to help you reach the minimum competence level you will need to begin coaching. If you are already an experienced coach or have received some coach training you will still need to attend many training days.
• The training continues with monthly training days, and meetings with your Mindstream Mentors. These will be focused towards whatever areas you need the most support with. Your ongoing training is individually tailored.
• You will also receive on-the-job support and training which can include business development meetings and individual and team coaching sessions where a mentor will go with you and actually work for you in your business. Again this depends on what area you need the most support in.
• Essentially Mindstream does whatever it takes to bring you to a stage of confidence and competence with your business so that you can coach professionally at the highest level.

Profile of a successful Licensee

The reality is that to become successful as a business coach you will already be an exceptional individual. Many people are capable of learning to coach and would enjoy this rewarding work, however experience demonstrates that not so many people have the combination of qualities required to earn a living as a self-employed coach operating in the world of commerce. In order to help you assess for yourself how suitable you are for a career as a business coach we would like to suggest you ask yourself the following questions:

Personal Qualities:

• Am I a high energy person with confidence and a positive attitude?
• Do I have a desire to add value wherever I find myself?

Business Experience:

• Do I have a record of achievement in a leadership role?
• Do I have at least 10 years commercial experience?
• Would I have credibility with senior business people?

Business Development:

• Do I have a personal and business network?
• Do I have the ability to build rapport & relationship?
• Do I have good influencing skills?           

Professionalism:

• Am I committed to my own continuous professional development?
• Do I complete i.e. do I do what I say I will do?
• Am I sharp in my personal presentation?

Emotional Intelligence & Integrity

• Is it my intention to be respectful and non-judgemental towards all people?
• Do I have a commitment to walking my talk?
• Am I committed to my own self awareness, self management and personal growth?

Business Coach Predisposition

• Can I imagine myself working at a strategic level with business leaders and senior teams, and is this something I would enjoy?
• Do I have a strategic approach to life i.e. big picture view, and realistic but high expectations of what is possible for an individual including myself?
• Am I independent enough to want to work for myself and excited by the thought of having my own business.
• Do I believe I have what it takes to succeed given the right support and training?
• Am I committed enough to my own independence and freedom to work hard at creating my coaching practice especially in the first year while I build momentum?

What is licensing?

A licence is a business relationship where a parent company (the licensor) has developed a successful method of business and allows another person or organisation (the licensee) to run a similar business using the licensor’s know how, trade marks, intellectual property and other business secrets.

Here is an extract from the 2004 Bank of Ireland Business Banking Survey on Franchising:

**We can trace the growth of licensing back to one fundamental of business, namely competitive advantage. Franchised businesses are successful because they have a competitive advantage over single unit companies. This comes from the following factors:

1. Franchised businesses are tried, tested and evolving business concepts. The Franchisee is part of a more dynamic group within a franchise network than the owner manager who operates alone.
2. Branding. This branding has helped to differentiate the franchise offering and help build a share of mind for individual franchisees.

The mindstream Licence

We believe there are many individuals who have the credibility and experience to enter the business coaching arena and prosper, however these people need training and support in the use of tried and tested processes. The Mindstream Business Coach Licence has been designed to enable you to build your business coaching practice successfully in the shortest possible timeframe. The licence is essentially an intense, action based learning programme where licensees recognise the value of support, allowing themselves to be stretched in a supportive but challenging environment based on mutual respect. The experience of Mindstream clearly shows that individuals benefit significantly from being part of an interdependent team of like-minded individuals, sharing a common objective. Costs:   Initial License fee plus ongoing fees. These will be explained during your first meeting with Mindstream.

Buying a Licence

We understand that when you decide to buy a licence this will be a big decision for you, and you should feel good about it. Not just in terms of the financial commitment but probably more importantly the decision to focus your professional life towards freedom and enjoyment. It is important therefore that you know you are making the right decision is it not?

So in order to make that decision easier for you we have put in place a process with a number of key stages which will need to be passed through prior to your eventual decision.

At the initial enquiry stage we swap basic information to make sure we are both somewhat on the same page. Our objective here is to become clear on three points:

1. You have a profile that includes a general commercial awareness and an interest in personal and professional development.
2. You understand the kind of strategic coaching Mindstream engage in.
3. You are aware in a general way of what licensing involves and are interested in this route to owning your own business.

Several meetings will follow where we answer all your questions while exploring further your potential for success in the business coaching arena.  You will naturally want to examine our licensee agreement in detail and perhaps have your legal advisor look it over. We will ask you to complete a number of psychometric indicators in order for us to understand more clearly the way to support you in building your new business. The final step is to set your start date which will begin with a half day meeting with your newly appointed Mindstream Mentors.
